Community Hosts are volunteers from area businesses, non-profits and community groups who greet visitors driving through the Tour of Lights. Additional duties of a Community Host include: handing out surveys and candy canes, as well as requesting a donation (we suggest $5 per vehicle) to help cover the cost of the light display which is approximately $100,000 each year. Volunteer shifts are needed nightly beginning Friday, December 7th through Saturday, December 31st. Shifts run from 6-10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and 6 p.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. On Monday, December 31st, volunteers will be accepting donations and handing out candy canes from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Six (6) volunteers per hour are required and we suggest that volunteers work in 2 hour increments. A club or organization will be recognized on an entrance poster, on the web site, and in a thank you ad we place in the San Angelo Standard Times. Each individual volunteer will have his or her name entered into a drawing for 5 - $100 shopping sprees at Sunset Mall. (Each individual will have his or her name entered into the drawing for each hour worked so the more hours worked add up to more entries into the drawing.)
