Local businesses, nonprofit organizations, community groups and families help welcome thousands of visitors to San Angelo’s Tour of Lights each Christmas season.
What Is a Community Host?
Volunteers from local businesses, nonprofit organizations, community groups and families who greet visitors driving through the Tour of Lights serve as Community Hosts.
Community Hosts welcome our visitors, hand out goodie bags containing candy canes, survey cards and pencils, and collect donations from guests as they enter the Tour of Lights.
What Community Hosts Do
Welcome Visitors
Be one of the friendly faces welcoming families and visitors as they arrive to experience the Concho Christmas Tour of Lights.
Hand Out Goodie Bags
Community Hosts distribute goodie bags that include candy canes, survey cards and pencils to guests driving through the Tour of Lights.
Collect Donations
Hosts collect donations in buckets from visitors. The suggested donation is $8 per vehicle, and the money collected helps cover the cost of presenting the Tour of Lights each year.
Volunteer Shifts
On December 31st, the final night of the Tour, hours are 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
A minimum of six volunteers are needed per hour, and groups may work in two-to-three-hour shifts.
Recognition & Volunteer Drawing
Organization Recognition
Participating clubs and organizations receive recognition with a poster placed at the Tour entrance, a listing on the Concho Christmas Celebration website and a thank-you advertisement in the San Angelo Standard-Times.
Five $100 Winners
Each individual volunteer has their name entered into a drawing for a chance to win $100. Five winners are selected. Volunteers receive one entry for every hour worked, so volunteering more hours means more opportunities to win.
